Sam Chara started this petition to Parliament and
Organ transplantation relies on the generosity of a person to volunteer their organs for donation either during life or after death.
Last year, Australia was in 17th place for international deceased organ donation.
Australia should switch to an opt-out donor system to increase organ donation rates, where a person who wishes not to donate can opt out, or are otherwise automatically opted in.
A number of countries like France, Wales, Iceland and now England have all switched to automatic opt-in systems in an attempt to boost donation rates - Australia should follow!
