In the span of one week, female students have been targeted for rape and murder. Young girls are being abducted for ransom, or to be sold into slavery. Gang violence has even necessitated army intervention. It is clear that the City of Cape Town cannot protect its citizens. National government must take action and regain control of the Mother City.

We can’t a State of Emergency to be declared

We want the army to increase its presence in the city - and to receive training for such a change of duty.

We want a temporary curfew.

We want an increase in patrols and visible policing.

We want Members of Parliament and City Officials to walk the city and see the crisis we are in.

We want jobs and opportunities for our youth, so that they are not forced into lives of crime.

We were promised a safe and free society. But we now live in fear of one another. If our government cannot keep us safe, then we have no government at all. It is time for them to do what we voted them in to do.

For the future of South Africa, and of Cape Town, sign this petition. Do not let our girls die in vain.
