Small businesses are struggling to afford the enormous amount as business rates, considering the cost of goods has significantly increased over the last six months resulting in small businesses unable to pass on the increase and hence making it impossible for small businesss to survive.
I'm a small business operator, working 12-14 hours/ day, seven days/week, have employed 4 part time young persons and I'm struggling to make two ends meet due to huge business rent and rates.
Small businesses in and around London are closing down every day and the local councils are unwilling to support these businesses. With number of businesses closing must have impact on the income of local councils and hence it is in the best interest of local councils to reduce the business rates after assessing the local market and support the businesses to remain open instead of closed businesses.
The closure of various small businesses resulting in huge number of people being unemployed, lack of confidence among small business community and hardship for local communities.
All I'm asking for is to support small businesses in terms of increasing the threshold of small business rates from current limit of £12000 to at least £20000 ( when no business rates are paid ) as this will encourage more small businesses to remain open and offer support and jobs to local communities.
