At present returnees from red list countries are being held in inhumane conditions in managed quarantine facilities, in more restrictive conditions than UK prisoners. With terrible food options these mandatory stays cost at least £2230 per adult. They are disproportionately impacting poorer people and effectively removing their right to travel by pricing them out. The accommodation provided and food is at least 5x the standard hotel rate for the same premises. 

parents are separated from children, couples separated, people separated from their beloved pets and not all UK citizens have the privilege of having people available on standby to support.

The mental health toll on those trapped in these hotels is also very hard and it unnecessarily plunges people into financial hardship.

Solution 1: it would be more cost efficient and equally safe to allow people to be driven to their fixed address in a private car of their own or a private hire vehicle (charged at a standard rate). 

Solution 2: charge the manager quarantine facility at the standard hotel rate of regular rooms.
