Petition for Parkway School District to implement "no harm" policy
Petition for Parkway School District to implement "no harm" policy
Why this petition matters
We are petitioning for Parkway School District to implement a "no harm" policy for grading in these times of quarantine.
Currently, our district has implemented a +/-5 percent policy, which means any work done during quarantine will be put under a separate category, which only amounts to %5 of the grade. This puts a tremendous amount of stress on the students, yet does nothing to help alter grades for the better. It isn't fair that students have to work hard to keep their grades up, yet they have no chance to improve them.
However, implementing a "no harm" policy, where work can only positively affect grades, would be much more beneficial for students. It would put less stress on both teachers and students in this tough time, and give students the ability to catch up on school and improve their grades.
Many other St. Louis area schools have implemented this policy, such as Rockwood, Ladue, Clayton, and others. If we don't implement this policy, Parkway students will be at a disadvantage. And that will affect students long term, into their futures.
