Many community members have expressed concerns that parked vehicles, particularly those related to new home construction and landscaping, along Broad Meadow Rd during school drop-off and pick-up times create unsafe conditions for walkers/bikers.

• Visibility for drivers and pedestrians is compromised when multiple vehicles park along the street, often forcing one lane of alternating traffic during the busiest times of the day.
• The problem is compounded by congestion on the sidewalks during peak times that often results in walkers and bikers migrating into the street.
• An especial hazard is created because small children are easily hidden behind vehicles, thus impeding the ability of drivers to react quickly to unexpected actions.
• Emergency vehicles will have difficulty navigating Broad Meadow Rd during peak times.

We, the undersigned, are concerned community members who urge our leaders on the Needham, MA Traffic Management Advisory Committee (TMAC) to act now to implement No Parking signs effective 7:30 – 8:30am and 2:30 – 3:30pm, Monday through Friday from September 1 – June 30 on both sides of Broad Meadow Rd between Bird St. and Dawson Dr/Grosvenor Rd.
