Following the letter received regarding the change to school hours I thought it wise to give the school an overall view on the feelings regarding the decision. I am very unhappy about the situation. As a working parent I am horrified to see once again I will be hit in the pocket, many parents like me work and even some have specifically obtained jobs to work around school hours. We have received no consultation prior to this. It appears the teachers had an idea and the board of governors decided without consulting the very people it affects. I appreciate that the teachers at the school work very hard and that funds are scarce but is this really where we are now changing hours? Surely a last resort? Hitting parents in the pocket? Causing disruption to people’s working and childcare arrangements?  In addition to this despite the assurance this will have no affect on education or will “improve” the situation there is no possible way of knowing if this is the case. I would have appreciated a full and frank consultation period rather than a letter strewn with acronyms simply informing me this is a fact a totally inappropriate means if communication for this topic. Parents of Ivanhoe Children please give me your views, if I am on my own in this rant so be it, but this decision affects a far greater number than the staff employed at the school and due to that we should get a say in it.  Please let me know if you are equally as unhappy and maybe we can have a conversation that we should have had before this decision was made.
