During the pandemic, there have been many restrictions and mandates put in place for the safety of the public. The main goal in creating such mandates was to slow the spread of the virus to keep our hospitalization numbers low. One of the orders used to try and achieve this was the closure of our children’s schools and sports.  

As we progressed through the year we now know a lot more about this virus than we did a year ago. We know that children and youth are at an extremely low risk of catching and transmitting the virus. The outbreaks in school have not caused extreme cases and deaths, it’s been controlled and contained for majority of the school year. 

it is incredibly important for children and youth to be IN school. Each child has a different learning needs and they depend on guidance from their teachers and peers. We have taken away social interaction with others. Children grow and learn from their environments. It’s important to have routine and stability. Pulling the kids out and back in and then out again is not helping the situation. 

Our children deserve to go to school IN PERSON. Teachers are there to TEACH. Not a computer screen. Nurses don’t get to work behind a computer why do teachers? 

With all the stress and worry this pandemic has done to everyone it is absolutely unfair to leave our kids behind like this. The educational system is failing. We are failing our children.
