Recently, the state of Wisconsin released its school ratings for 2021; the School District of Beloit, got its worst rating ever, and the worst rating the state can give — 1 star. This means the majority of our students are not proficient in any subjects and the district has failed to meet any state expectations. Our students and community deserve better. Ms Miller has been on the board for several years now, and under her lack of leadership, the district has sunk to new lows not previously seen. She kept our students out of school for more than a year, when the recommended CDC guidance was that schools be reopened. She has likely crippled our school district for many years to come. Her antics have recently caused two of our best board members we've ever had to resign. As board president, she has opened us up to litigation, and continues to do so, by restricting taxpayers voices. One lawsuit has already been threatened after Miller decided a citizen could speak only on approved content at board meetings. Under her direction, she also blocks people from district social media platforms when they speak the truth about our failing district. She has also recently, a second time, opened us up to litigation and lawsuit by using her school board president title to disparage and slander an upstanding local businessman and taxpaying constituent for her own political gain. This is NOT the example we need to set for our already struggling students and district. This is NOT the image we should be sending to other communities. We the citizens, parents, and students of this community demand that Megan Miller not only relinquish her board presidency, but remove herself from the board.
Beloit deserves better.
