Youth Violence: Violence that involves young individuals, typically children, adolescents and young adults between the ages of 10 to 24. Youth Violence includes of aggressive behaviour such as, verbal and physical abuse, bullying, cyber bullying, burglary, theft, sexual assault, sexual abuse, etc.
In Australia, over the years, there has unfortunately and most devastatingly been an increase in the number of youth crimes. 21% of all recorded offences are Juvenile (ages 10 to 19) offences. The World Health Organisation (WHO) identifies that there are 200,000 homicides each year amongst the youth and approximately 25% individuals were bullied in the last month. The Australian Bureau of Statistics indicate that in 2015–16, youth offenders comprised 13% of the total offender population. In comparison, people aged 10–17 years represented 11% of the total Australian Estimated Resident Population (ERP) aged 10 years and over as at 31 December 2015.
I enquire you to sign this petition in order to diminish the percentage rate and prevent youth violence within our communities. The children, educated or uneducated, should be taught to understand the significance and value their own worth/life. The youth of today could make a great impact on the future of our society!
