Unmasking our children

Unmasking our children
This petition is centered around parents having the right to choose if their child has to wear a mask at the Princeton City Schools grades pre-k through 6th. As a mother of a second grader at the Sharonville Elementary, I don’t think it is right to make it a requirement for our children to be masked. It should be left up to the parents to decide. There are MANY schools around the tristate that are not enforcing a mask on their students no matter what grade they are in. We were notified of this from Princeton City Schools on August 6th 2021 a week before school starts on August 12th 2021. A direct quote from the news letter I received—“ Masks: PCSD will no longer require face coverings at or inside any district facilities or district-owned transportation vehicle. This change is supported by recent updates to recommendations by The Ohio Department of Education. Face coverings and masks are permissible for any student, staff, family, or community member who chooses to wear one.” As of August 10th 2021 we were called and informed that our elementary students would be the only children required to wear a mask. From my experience with my daughter the masks would be considered a unsanitary option. With only a few weeks of my daughter being forced to wear a mask at school she started to break out with a rash around her chin and on the corners of her mouth, for my child it caused more harm than good. We need to put a stop to this and let it be the parents choice to look out for our children not left up to the schools. Our school district has targeted an age group that do not have a voice in the adult world and are not able to speak up for themselves. Hopefully we have you as the parents of these young children to speak up for them against this! #Unmaskourkids
