TECUMSEH PUBLIC SCHOOL - TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES & SAFE CROSSING
TECUMSEH PUBLIC SCHOOL - TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES & SAFE CROSSING
Dear Parents of Tecumseh Public School Students,
On September 25th, I will be attending a deputation with the City of Mississauga Traffic Safety Council in an attempt to increase traffic calming measures and to request implementation of a visible crossing guard.
After multiple attempts to secure these measures, the requests have continuously been denied. The recommendation the City of Mississauga made after a site visit this year was to repaint the solid yellow line and a fire hydrant on Chriseden Drive.
THESE ARE THE REQUESTS I WILL BE PRESENTING:
1) reduce the speed limit to 20km per hour directly in front of the school zone / parking lot entry
2) implement a crossing guard within visibility of the school (either at the pathway on Chriseden Drive or in front of the parking lot where many students cross)
3) implement a speed hump at the pathway on Chriseden Drive to reduce the speed of vehicles entering and exiting the school parking lot
4) implement no stopping / no parking road markings on Chriseden Drive to discourage vehicles from illegally stopping and parking - subsequently blocking visibility and safe crossing of students
Thank you in advance for your support of this very important matter.
Best,
Michelle Kalman
