The school board is a group of elected officials that work to make decisions on behalf of the school district. The authority to enact any and all changes within that district lies with this board. Allowing any other party or parties to make any decision on behalf of the board negates and undermines the authority given to that board. Regardless of what that decision is, the board is elected to be the voice of the district. 

Shifting sole decision making power to the Superintendent does not allow for the discussion and consideration of all parties. This hands large decisions over to one person who may or may not consider all available information, guidance, and/or needs of the students in the district.

Moving an entire student body to an alternate model of instruction without consideration for those that have clearly voiced that this is not what is best for all students, is not considering all options and needs. The board wants to hear from everyone including families and staff to allow for a fully informed and unbiased decision.
