Say "No" to the Transfer of Our Valued ID Teachers

At the May 11, 2016 Board of Ed meeting, Superintendent Cronin voiced his intention to move some ID teachers to/from Ridge Road and Green Acres. His intention is to achieve "parity," although he disclosed no test scores or data to indicate an academic discrepancy between the schools. His decision to upheave established staff is illogical given that Ridge Road and Green Acres are both strong performers, and the ONLY TWO NORTH HAVEN SCHOOLS to be named "Schools of Distinction" by the state in 2016 for high academic achievement and high academic growth.
ID is predicated upon the continuity of the same students and teachers for two full years. By transferring teachers from one school to another, our children will lose out on one of the core benefits of this highly successful, multi-decade program. Our ID teachers have dedicated many years of hard work at their respective schools to make the programs what they are. They deserve to stay in the schools they've long served, and our children deserve continuation of the same standard of excellence.
PLEASE SUPPORT OUR ID TEACHERS AND SIGN THIS PETITION, EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY CALLED OR SENT EMAILS TO THE BOE MEMBERS, MR. STIRK, DR. CRONIN, AND MELINDA MCKENNA.
This petition serves as the following:
• A consolidated list of all of the parents who want our ID teachers to stay in their current schools,
• A concrete and irrefutable record of our collective opposition to the transfer of ID teachers,
• A communication option for those parents who do not have the time or means to call or write their own personal messages to the administration.
Keep in mind that the plan to transfer ID teachers comes on the heels of the administration's decision to "loop ID" (which will decrease total ID student enrollment by 1/3 within a few years at Ridge Road if only one kindergarten ID class is created in the 2016-17 school year) AND the decision to hire, without public disclosure and with taxpayer dollars, an outside consultant to "evaluate" the ID program. This petition also asks that the administration HALT ANY FURTHER EFFORTS TO DILUTE THE ID PROGRAM AND DISPLAY GREATER TRANSPARENCY OF MOTIVATION AND INTENTION WHEN IT COMES TO SWEEPING DECISIONS THAT AFFECT OUR ID TEACHERS, STUDENTS, AND COMMUNITY.
