Our children in LPISD are only receiving about 15 minutes of unstructured play each day. Sometimes they do not have recess at all. Many students in LPISD have to “earn” their small daily break with completing homework. All elementary students should be given a minimum of 30 minutes outside to take a break from the extended school day LPISD passed. Our kids need to be able to run and play with their peers, and take a break from sitting in the classroom, and talking quietly. As parents we need to advocate for our children to ensure that school is still a fun place where they are learning to share, include, and respect others. Many of those skills are learned on the playground. Please sign this petition to ensure the LPISD school board can do what is best for children and give each child a 30 minute recess.
