Why this petition matters

Started by Perri Gordon

CPS and CTU are both at fault for the current situation in Chicago, and this is not the first time or last time.  The only losers in the game they play are students.  It’s time to break up the massive organizations into smaller ones with elected school boards to hold them accountable.  Teachers will flock to the ones paying well, families will move to those performing well, and funding should be skewed to the areas that need improvement to help them thus revitalizing entire neighborhoods.

This system is not working for anyone.  The only way to look out for our children is to make this happen.  We must speak up and speak out.  Please sign this petition, write Governor Pritzker, Mayor Lightfoot, your Alderman, your state senator (not US!), and your state representative (not US!).

You may use the following form letter when you write them:

Hello,

As a parent of a CPS student and one of your constituents, I am asking that you take action to break CPS into several smaller districts and dissolve the current CTU.  Neither group is looking out for the best interest of our students.  It’s time to break up these massive organizations into smaller ones with elected school boards to hold them accountable and give our children the quality education they deserve.

Signed,

[your name]
