Allow students of Alaka’i school to attend full-time while Kaua'i County is at Tier 4
Why this petition matters
This petition was written by parents of students at Alaka’i O Kaua'i school. Please do not sign unless you are a parent of one or more students at Alaka’i O Kaua'i, or a staff member.
It looks like our students will probably be going back to school full-time after winter break, but we don’t know how long that will last. We would like the Alaka’i school policy to match the Kaua'i County COVID-19 Tier system, so that in the future our students can continue to attend school full-time as long as the County remains at Tier 4.
During the pandemic, the County of Kaua'i has had one of the most successful government responses (from a health point of view) in the world. Because of this, we trust the County to do what is right for our health. We would like to see Alaka’i O Kaua’i school mirror the County’s tier system for guidance as to when to be completely open, when to move to a hybrid school model, and when to shut down completely.
As signers of this petition, we want to see our kids in school full-time, five days a week, as long as the County of Kaua'i is at Tier 4. We feel like it is only appropriate to move to a hybrid learning model if the County moves to Tier 3. We very much appreciate DJ Adams and all the members of the school board at Alaka’i O Kaua'i, and respectfully ask that the school’s policies be updated.
