The undersigned, concerned families and community members of the Harbor Creek School District, respectfully request that our children return for the 2021-2022 school year with a NO mask requirement. Healthy adults and children should not be forced - by the state or school district - to wear face coverings and the benefit of wearing a mask is still highly questionable. We request that the wearing of masks also be made optional by the school district, for our students, teachers, and all faculty members.  Everyone has the right to voluntarily wear a mask, but forcing someone to wear a mask is an infringement on personal liberty.

Wearing masks for long periods of time are causes of headaches/migraines and lack of focus for some students.

Wearing a mask for long periods of time also ensures that the wearer has a warm and moist receptacle around his or her mouth, on which viruses and bacteria can land and accumulate.

Recent clinical trials are examining the effects of increased CO2 levels in children while wearing masks for extended periods of time, and how this effects their prime level of optimal performance, as well as their overall health.

Our students and families have been mask and restriction FREE throughout the summer, and should begin the process of returning to normality within the school setting as well.

Therefore, WE the undersigned, petition the Harbor Creek School District and Educational Board to take a firm stance against mandatory face masks for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year, striking down any suggested policy mandating our children/students, teachers, and faculty members, to wear face masks.
