Parent support for District 15 Principals call for a Delayed Opening

D15 principals wrote a letter (full link below) to the mayor, governor and DOE asking for a delayed in-person start for the following reasons:

  1. Start the year remote so staff can have proper training on new protocols.
  2. Allow option to phase in blended learning from Sept 21-Oct 18.
  3. Communicate supply shipments of PPE, cleaning supplies etc to schools. 
  4. Ensure building councils meet with custodial engineers to verify signage, furniture placement, and cleaning schedules.
  5. Provide schools with ventilation reports.
  6. Respond to school exceptions immediately.
  7. Determine eligibility for reasonable accommodations.
  8. Develop protocol for assigning remote teachers. 

We parents/guardians want our children to return to school too with the health and safety of the staff and children being guiding principles.
