Lack of proper mitigation measures for airborne infection spread (bar an open window, masks for older children only and perhaps a shared Co2 monitor), no mask wearing for younger children, no PCR access for negative antigen results but symptomatic of covid, no need for children to restrict movement if symptomatic household member but negative antigen, impossible to get a PCR IF you qualify, no HEPPA filters in each classroom, lack of coherent information for parents when to not send children to school, parents not to be informed of a child with positive antigen but waiting on a PCR appointment. I could go on... The government statement this evening said it is inevitable children will pick up this infection over the coming day and weeks. Is that what we want after all this time trying to avoid the infection? Hospital numbers rising and case numbers not near their peak. Education is so important for our children, no doubt, but at this point in time, it is purely certain that they will be infected over the next few weeks. Schools need to close until numbers start coming down
