Our teachers support us in our education and give lots of hard work. They shouldn’t have to risk their lives for students for them to learn. They should be given the opinion to teach safely from the comfort of their home.

I totally support this petition because it’s not fair to our wonderful teachers to be forced to work in such conditions without being given an option. They help us in so many ways and we have to help them by giving them a choice to choose what they think is best for them.

As a fellow teacher I had to quit my job that I loved very much this year in order to feel safe. It was a horrible decision to have to make and I feel for our TESD teachers who are being forced to make the same decisions. It’s not right.

The teachers go above and beyond for our kids on a daily basis. They shouldn't have to live in fear because of their job.

As a student at Conestoga, I've seen many people compare the teachers with doctors, whose jobs are to deal with pandemics. Teachers sign up to spread knowledge, not risk their lives. They have changed their entire syllabuses to teach us virtually, and are doing so much to make sure students are still learning. We can't expect them to risk their family's lives and their own. How is it fair that students have the choice of doing online or hybrid, while the teachers are forced to teach in person?
Last time we did hybrid, cases went up in our county and schools. Chester County has had 16,414 confirmed Covid-19 cases, and 441 deaths. According to the New York Times, "There are now nearly six times as many cases each day and three times as many deaths. Experts warn the worst is yet to come." As of this morning, more than 16,569,900 people in the US have been infected, and at least 301,000 have died.
It isn't smart to reopen schools when cases are so high and expected to worsen. It is absurd to force teachers to work with students in person, especially when some of those students don't social distance or follow the rules. I respect the teachers' decision to protest by doing a sick-out. They are setting a good example for students, and are showing us that we should fight for what's right.
It is not ok to fire teachers just because they are worried about their health. I personally care about my teachers' well-being, and believe it would be more detrimental to a student's mental health if a teacher passed away compared to having to learn from home. We need to show empathy, they are humans too. They are working really hard just to teach their students, and we should respect that.

teachers do so much for us already. through this pandemic, we owe them the choice of deciding how they want to teach. plus, if students have the option to learn virtually, even teachers should have the option to teach virtually.

Nobody should be forced to sacrifice their safety during a pandemic.
