The parents and guardians of our Laurel Elementary students would like the option to pick-up the students on-campus during school dismissal.

The amount of crowds on 36th Avenue and Hacienda Street do not allow for parents/guardians to get to pick-up gates safely nor does it allow parents/guardians and students to then get to their cars or homes in a safe and timely manner. The crowds of parents/guardians are causing the following safety problems: (1) blocking the street by double parking, (2) parking in red zones and in front of fire hydrants, (3) parking in front of private driveways, (4) allowing their children to cross the street where there are no crosswalks, (5) parents walking with their children against traffic popping in and out of parked cars, (6) and blocking bus access. As you can imagine, the community members that live around Laurel Elementary are fed-up with the traffic, crowds and blocked access to their own homes. Allowing parents/guardians to come on to campus to pick up students will help ease frustration. 

This comes from a place of love and safety concern. We sincerely hope you will consider opening up campus for after school pick-up.
