The Harrison County School District, the largest school district on the MS Gulf Coast, has FAILED to protect our children and act in the best interest of our children and families. They have refused to put a mask mandate in place for the schools. There are no longer any temperature checks or safety protocols in place. They refuse to be transparent in all aspects. The number of positives cases over the last week are record breaking numbers! By far higher than they were last year when they put the mandate into place. They have failed to communicate with parents in a timely manner on extremely important things, such as the new middle school not being finished in time. They gave the parents of 650 kids, ages 11-14, 3 business days notice that their children would be going back to school virtually. They offered no solutions for the children that would be left home alone during the day. They are offering free lunches but they have to be picked up daily from 1 of 3 schools which makes it impossible for those struggling families with parents that work, no vehicle, etc. to even be able to pick up the free lunches! This district has literally forced many parents to have to choose between being able to put food on their tables or their child’s education! NO PARENT should EVER be put into that position at the hands of those who's job is prevent it! Please take a stand with me and sign this petition asking the Harrison County School District to PROTECT our children and families and put a mask mandate in place. Thank you!
