Children’s hour at Ennistymon library

Children’s hour at Ennistymon library
Why this petition matters
Libraries are quiet places, but not all users of the library can achieve this. Parents with very young children, and parents/carers of children and people with special needs, can have a difficult time in the library when they feel they have to make their child obey a rule they know the child cannot understand or follow (yet). This can make it an unpleasant and stressful experience for both parents/carers and for the child, and keep parents and their children away from the library all together.
This petition requests the library in Ennistymon to create “children’s hour” once or twice a week, ideally one hour during the week and one hour on Saturday. During this hour the library does NOT turn into a playground, but DOES allow a less quiet environment. That way young children, people with special needs, and their parents and carers can feel more relaxed and enjoy the experience of the library in a more pleasant way.
