On August 4th, Assumption University decided to ban outside fans from on-campus athletic events until, allegedly, September 24th.  This information was learned by many parents and athletes upon viewing Fall 2021 athletic schedules.  No public announcement was made on the university athletics website, Twitter or Instagram accounts.  No email was sent out from the University to the tuition paying parents or student-athletes.  This decision reverses their July 27th, 2021 announcement that they would be allowing vaccinated outside spectators back on campus.  This new development has shocked and angered the parents of the impacted fall student-athletes.  It does NOT appear that any other NE-10 school is taking this measure.  There is no reason that vaccinated outside visitors cannot attend outdoor athletic events on campus.  The fact that these same people can attend concerts, athletic events in Worcester, attend athletic events at other NE-10 schools and other colleges and universities in Worcester makes this decision made by Assumption appear ridiculous and needless.  Furthermore, based on July 30 data posted on Assumption's website, 92% of Assumption faculty, staff and students are vaccinated.  After two years of masking, testing, social distancing and vaccinations, it is time for Assumption to allow the tuition paying customer back on campus to attend their son's and daughter's athletic events.
