A Zebra Crossing for Our Community and School
This petition had 454 supporters
For the past six years I have walked my children along a busy road with no traffic calming and for the past six years I have asked councillors, our local MP Andrew Jones and 95 Alive for a crossing. Since we moved to Killinghall the village has added FOUR new housing estates and is set to add a further one with no additional road support in front of the school to calm the increasing traffic.
You frequently have to flag down cars to stop traffic and last week there was a third accident on the road in two months. (See above picture)
We have been told by North Yorkshire County Council that we have been allocated a REFUGE ISLAND which is not a zebra crossing and will mean we will still have to take our life into our hands to get to the pedestrian refuge in the middle. We would like to petition for a Zebra or even Pelican Crossing. In this day and age, surely this is possible? Please sign this if you want to create a safer road for our community. Thank you.
