In 2015, the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Florida had heard about some illegal guns that someone had obtained in the neighborhood of Troy Bennett. An undercover cop asked Troy where he could buy a said gun? Troy said that he didn't know anything about one, but he pointed out a neighbor who might own it. 18 months later, the Orange County Sheriff's Office arrested Troy for possessing an illegal firearm.

There was no evidence, audio, video, or anything that proved that Troy owned the gun. In fact, The firearm in question was a part of a previous/ongoing investigation with a different person. During this time, the gun wasn't even in the original evidence taken into custody. That's why it doesn't have a chain of custody tag. 

So, why Troy? Even though a different person was the subject of the investigation prior to them wrongfully convicting Troy, they couldn't find the person who had allegedly been selling this gun in Chris' neighborhood. Sadly, the police will cut corners wherever they can to convict someone. Even if it's the wrong person.

He was sentenced to life in prison without parole in 2016. Even if Troy owned the gun, this sentence would still be extremely excessive. 

Due to the fact that there was no evidence that proved that Troy owned the gun, just the word of the police, we're asking the Supreme Court to please pardon Troy Bennett.
