Recently the Labor Day holiday passed and many of us worked on that day.  We were disappointed and surprised to hear that we weren't getting any tupe of holiday pay for this federal holiday.. Therefore we respectfully request  that you provide your hourly workers with either the day off, or that time and one half be paid if we work that day. We also demand that you pay us for all Federal and State holidays, such as MLK Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, Christmas Eve, and New Years Day. Part time workers should receive 4 hours of their standard hourly pay and full time workers should receive 8 hours of their standard pay, unless they work that holiday, at which time they will be paid time and one half of their standard hourly pay.

Most employers provide their employees with the routine Federal and State holidays as being paid at their standard hourly rate, for 8 hours for fulltime employees and 4 hours for part time employees. This is a benefit that is greatly appreciated by all employees and is a target goal of the employer to provide quality benefits to its workers. 

While the US Department of Labor does not warrant that an employer provide these benefits to its employees, it is of general consensus that they be offered to the workers. It is for this reason that we are petitioning Panera Bread, BHRA, to enter into an agreement with its employees to now provide these benefits to both its part time and full time employees.
