I am Manikanta Balam from Bandapuram
(which means Dirty Village in english) which is located in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh State. I and the people of Bandapuram were often teased by our friends and relatives from other areas when they referred to our village name Bandapuram (which means Dirty Village in english) how residents felt ashamed and embarrassed every time they needed to utter the village's name. Likewise, villagers of Bandapuram, especially the younger generations were demanding for a long time to change the outlandish name of the village. some of our ancestors once said that our village name was Brundhavanapuram(Beautiful Village in english) due to the local slang problem of uneducated people later it was changed to Bandapuram(which means Dirty Village in english). please make a change to our village name. Our generations are working for "Swatch Bharath" I am sending this letter after seeing the name changes occured in some places of india where the people are suffering with the same problem.
1. Gandha villag in Fatehabad district was renamed to Ajit Nagar
2. Wheeler Island in Bhadrak district
of Odisha has been renamed as APJ Abdul Kalam Island.
3. Miyan Ka Bada village in Barmer, Rajsthanis renamed as Mahesh Nagar.
Please I kindly request you to go through this.
