Hello friends! As some of you know the Bay district school board has decided they want to instill a new dress code. Why? Simply because they can. Excuses such as bullying over clothes are simply not validated anymore. Some of the rules they have on dress code are stated below:

• students k-5 May wear a T-shirt with graphics or logos but 6-12 are only allowed to have a small logo or nothing at all.

• fitness pants( yoga pants and tights) are allowed to be worn from k-5, However middle schoolers and highschooler’s are not allowed to wear fitness pants unless they are under our jeans .

•Bottoms can be no more than 5 inches above the knee for all students.

Firstly the first bullet is completely absurd. Why are we not allowed to have graphics on our shirts? as long as they’re completely appropriate, I see no problem. The second one is also completely absurd, tiny children are allowed to wear tights and yoga pants but young adults can’t?
And the third one is understandable but also equally absurd, as you know it gets hot in the summer and sometimes we don’t wanna wear long shorts.The school board wants us to conform and forget about our individuality. Not only is the dress code they want strict, it’s restricting. The school board wants to take down the idea of dressing freely. Help me speak up about this horrid idea of a dress code and let’s get one of our freedoms of expression back!
