Ryan Mancini started this petition to State Representative Pamela Hornberger and

We must propose a bill that would improve teacher income based on a rating system done by students. This could improve both teacher and potentially student well-being across Michigan.
This rating system could run from k-12 and would vary in complexity according to grade level. Evaluations could be put out each semester. It would involve things like the attitude of the teacher, how well they teach, their grading system, their fairness to all students, and how well the student is learning. The evaluations  wouldn't involve strictly standardized test scores, which created negative side effects in past performance based income programs. Each question on the evaluation could be on a scale and the points given could be added up to a total. This total can be used to find how much to increase a teacher's pay.

But other than the rating system, all teachers should start with a higher base income of $75,000 that the rating system can add onto.

I came up with this idea because I have heard remarks from teachers in the past about their pay and that it can be hard to live on it. This is extremely unfair because teachers are so vital for children's development. They teach them right and wrong, and how to socialize. They mold every generation, especially elementary school teachers. So, their pay should be proportional to their impact.
