For the past couple of years, coyotes have inhabited Esther Clark Park. Not only have the coyotes been loud at night, but they have also been violent. They constantly harass, and hurt nearby residents, and have killed some of the nearby resident's pets. Since my family lives directly next to the park, we see and experience the coyote's harm to the community almost daily. The coyotes have stalked and attacked us and our dogs. Their presence has turned ordinary daily walks in the neighborhood into a dangerous adventure that requires many precautions. We have needed to time our walks to avoid the coyotes and even bring pepper spray to protect ourselves. I cannot begin to count the number of times I've received an urgent call from my mom, screaming for me to rush into the park to protect her and scare away coyotes. It was just yesterday that she and my dogs were attacked by a group of over eight coyotes, that badly injured one of our dogs. We aren't the only family affected by the coyotes. Esther Clark Park is completely surrounded by houses whose residents are all directly affected by the coyotes. The coyote's harm stretches beyond the adjacent houses, to the entire neighborhood. Some people have been stalked, followed, attacked, and have even lost their beloved pets to the coyotes. Many reports and complaints have been filed over the years, but time and time again the city ignores them, only recently putting up a small coyote warning sign at only one of the park's entrances. How can the city allow invasive wild predators to live in a residential area? Esther Clark Park is not the same as the open space areas in the foothills, and should not be a safe haven for coyotes and other dangerous animals. We need to remove the coyotes from Esther Clark Park to protect our pets and the community. Sign this petition to put an end to this threat by either killing or relocating the coyotes in Esther Clark Park.
