PETITION to install the new traffic light at the intersection of Lyons Rd and Spanish Isles Blvd. (To be synchronized with the traffic light at Astaire Ave. and W. Whisper Walk Blvd.)

We, the Parents of the children and residents who live in San Remo Villa Community and the Parents driving-kids-to the Whispering Pines Elementary School must bring your attention to this dangerous intersection. It is strange the light was not installed at the time the school was built, but multiple requests to install the traffic light were made during the last years with no success. Every day, families from Villa San Remo risk their lives crossing this intersection and car accidents at the school peak time are common. (Photo, car accident on 03/02/2022)

Your cooperation is needed in this huge safety issue, because each of your departments are responsible for the safety of our children. If everyone in all departments works together, we could expedite the installation of the new traffic light.

According to denial by the previous administration, they explained that they could not add the additional traffic light because it is too close to the one at Lyons at Whisper Walk and Astaire Ave. We understand that this was a different time and a different administration. But, as today with a huge migration of families with children that must deal with this intersection every school day, we want you to look at this issue again and make a positive decision for a new traffic light. 

What could be more valuable than the life and safety of our Children? Hopefully, we will be heard this time and we will be proud of our local government.
