Why this petition matters

Started by OBHS Seniors

To the Orange Beach City Schools Board and Superintendent,

Senior year is what every high school student looks forward to: graduation, college applications, and all the fun Senior activities. At most schools, Senior students have the opportunity to be creative and decorate their parking spots, including last years’ OBHS Seniors. The 2023 Senior class would like to see this tradition to continue at OBHS. Creating these parking spots is a fantastic way to promote school pride and create new friendships. Painting individual parking spots will allow students to express their creativity and individuality, build school spirit, and beautify the campus.

Personalized experiences have individuals feeling like their interests and preferences are actually being taken into account. Nowadays where students are feeling less and less unique and nothing more than just a GPA number to many, we believe this would increase morale, school spirit, and ultimately change the outlook of the student body to both our school and administration.

The proposed painted parking spots would be subject to guidelines and school approval. Unapproved, or variation of submitted designs would be painted over at the discretion of the school administration. Disciplinary action may be taken and student that violates the guidelines may forfeit their right to a parking space and/or the right to drive on campus.

We thank you for the opportunity to write you and for your consideration of this activity that, although small, we take very seriously and would really like this tradition that was started with last year’s OBHS Seniors to continue for the years to come.

The Senior class encourages everyone to sign this petition to support their cause of continuing the tradition at Orange Beach High School.
