In reading your mission statement you note that Oxygen media "delivers relevant and engaging content to young women who like to “live out loud.” This statement does suggest that there is an entertainment aspect of your programming. However, there is NOTHING entertaining about demeaning children. This is a disgrace and not productive for the African American community or the American community as a whole.
This reckless display by Oxygen Media has prompted me to not only start this petition, but to also ban all programming from my home. Although the adults are willing participants, the children should not be subjected to such damaging depictions of irresponsible behavior on a national scale. Has anyone thought of the children? What their lives will be like at school or in the community should this air? At what point is "too far"? While this may be this individual's reality, it is not the reality of most and should not be in your boardroom as a viable option in your programming! At some point money must not rule over the betterment of a community and our country!
Enough is enough!!! I'm taking a stand FOR my community and AGAINST anything, anyone, any organization that attempts to derail or demean it all for the mighty dollar! Our community will not stand to be the bunt of your jokes around the water cooler!
I am committed to circulating this petition and participating on all social media outlets against this show! This commitment will continue until a press release is forwarded canceling this show! I deserve better!! Our children deserve better!! Our community deserves better!! #notoshawtylo
