We need a mini roundabout at the junction of White road and A417 East Hendred

There have been several accidents at this junction and village residents find it increasingly difficult to enter and exit the village safely.

In addition new housing developments on the A417 will increase the volume of traffic, exacerbating the situation.

The safety of children and pedestrians crossing the A417 to use village facilities (schools, restaurants, shop and post office) needs to be considered also. The mini roundabout would slow traffic and allow safer passage to the village.

To reinforce the request...from BBC News:

At 17:35 on Wednesday 13th December, fire crews from Didcot and Wantage were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash on the A417 in East Hendred near the junction for White Road.

On arrival crews found a female driver of one of the cars was trapped in her vehicle.

Crews worked to remove the driver’s side and roof of the car, and the woman was taken to a waiting ambulance for further treatment.

She only suffered minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

Watch manager Jon Walker said “The occupants have been very lucky on this occasion, the cumulative speed of the impact could have led to much more serious injuries."
