Save faringdon preschool
With so much change surrounding the faringdon infant school closer and relocation, we as parents of children at the preschool assumed this would stay open, however this is not the case. As the only surviving preschool in faringdon, it has a tough decision ahead. The Oxfordshire council has requested the land back on which the preschool sits, the building itself has also exceeded its life expectancy.
1/ The preschool can “join” the faringdon learning trust and dissolve itself as a charity and the preschool we all know and love will be dismantled into two sites with no job guarantees for the current staff. Happening 2022.
2/ The pre school gets suitable land donated locally in order to purchase a porta cabin and can function as it does today. they would then have to 2025 to vacate the land they are currently on.
3/ the county council / faringdon learning trust donate some of its new land to the preschool as it is, no changes to curriculum or staff members.
4/ A suitable building and safe space is donated to the preschool
The estimated growth rate (2011-2019) was 1. 4% with estimated population. The estimated figures for 2019 stood at nearly 8000 people. This will have massively increased with the 2 new estates on Great Coxwell end of Faringdon and the partially built Oriel gardens estate.
The new school plans are coming ever closure this is much needed as over the last few years there have been increasing numbers of children that live within Faringdon having to travel to nearby villages for school placements.
A concern lies with the early years and younger places. At present the four main settings in Faringdon are Sunflower (feeder to Faringdon infants) Faringdon Preschool (charity run) and Old Station nursery (by Preschool) and Anna belles. On a recent enquiry into spaces, that most of these places are full and with waiting lists. This also appears the same with wrap around care places.
Ilthe community is shocked to here that Faringdon Pre School due to building lease is facing closure (as early as next year) . This pre school and its staff are well known to many residents of Faringdon, the childcare spaces are very much needed in the current climate even with the new preposed feeder nursery to the new school childcare spaces in Faringdon is not keeping up with the rate of growth.
A group of parents in Faringdon are starting efforts in attempt to safe this fundimental part of Faringdon being lost. Fundraising efforts are underway alongside a attempt to find a suitable location (in hopes to relocate pre school). We are also looking to raise as much awarness as possible.
the whole town is going to feel this hit to a much loved, highly spoken of childcare setting. Along with the numerous spaces of childcare this is going to wipe out to working families.
So wether you are a faringdon local, or simply just a parent who knows the importance of preschool with learning thru play and mixed age group (2-5 years) and the impact it has, please sign and help our small town hang on to one of its best assets!!
