As many of you will agree, the most vital support that you can provide to a loved one is when they are recovering from a tragic life altering event as this is when they need us the most.

As COVID restrictions start to lift and after nearly 18 months of many going through the most heartbreaking times of not being able to see their loved ones in hospital, they are now allowing one visitor for 1 hour, once a day. That golden hour once a day has made a huge impact.

Abingdon Community Hospital is there for patients who are recovering from a life altering stroke and require long, intensive physical therapy. however have decided that they do not want to lift any restrictions and want to keep their patients limited to only seeing one person throughout their entire stay for 45 minutes, 5 days a week. Leaving them not seeing any other members of their family and being left along in bed, on their own every weekend, when there is no physical therapy taking place so nothing to do.

The mental support that someone needs after a stroke is huge, rehab is TOUGH and without continued positive support and motivation, it can take a lot longer to recover, if at all.

Please support me in signing this petitionfor the Abingdon Community Hospital to adjust their visiting hours to the same as all other hospitals, 1 visitor per day, for 1 hour, 7 days a week. This will mean that each day they have something to work towards and for them to be able to see a different friendly face throughout the week.
