We, the undersigned, call upon Oxford Brookes to scrap fee waivers and allocate all of the funding which they receive for student support to go towards bursaries.

Bursaries enable students from poorer backgrounds to attend university. This money is given to students now - when they need it - for rent, food, and other living costs. Without this money, many bright prospective students are put at a severe disadvantage. The fee waiver scheme has been mis-sold to students and the NUS has called them a "con trick". UWE and UCL have engaged with students on this issue, favouring meritocracy and scrapping fee waivers. We call on Brookes to follow suit.
