Open schools for in person learning! Children shouldn’t be sitting in front of a computer all day. The daily schedules released yesterday are not sustainable for families. The proposed long virtual day won’t work especially for the Elementry students. This style of learning will cause developmental delays and serious mental health ramifications for our children. What happened to telling parents to “limit screen time”? A quote from The American Academy of Pediatrics “The impacts of lost instructional time and social and emotional development on children and adolescents should be expected”. A quote from the CDC “the harms attributed to closed schools on the social, emotional, and behavioral health, economic well-being, and academic achievement of children, in both the short- and long-term, are well-known and significant.”

Today in Chester County there are ZERO patients on ventilators. After our district decided to start the year hybrid the Chester County Heath Dept. “recommended” schools open virtually. It was a recommendation not a mandatory action. A lot of private schools are open as well as surrounding districts like Twin Valley School District. 

Our children deserve more then this. We need to stand up for them and be their voice!
