Why this petition matters

Started by Hayley Alicia

Last weekend my friends and I attended Attik nightclub on Chapel street and were harassed in the women's bathroom by two men. When reported to security, They could not be removed as they were 'friends with the owners'.

My friends and I were then blatantly lied about by staff member of this venue after the incident, and my response from the venue was also riddled with lies and misinformation.

The amount of people who have reached out to me sharing similar experiences many many at this venue, but also multiple on Chapel Street has me so enraged.

There have been reports of everything from drink spiking, sexual and physical assault, racism, underage girls frequently being allowed in and groomed by security, photographers spitting on patrons and even death.

If you check google reviews on almost any club on Chapel Street, you'll be sure to find reports of very serious incidents which have fallen on deaf ears.

The lack of common process / policies when it comes to incident reporting for patrons is unbelievable. In many instances the safety of patrons boils down to how security is feeling on the night.

This needs to change.

I am petitioning for there to be more regulation and accountability to be taken by venues and security companies when it comes to the safety of patrons.

I believe there needs to be better staff training and mandatory systems in place (such as QR codes) at all venues and events where patrons are able to report incidents themselves which then can be investigated and action actually taken.

We are not only being let down by these venues and security teams, we're also being attacked by them. Enough is enough.
