Our constitution protects us from inhumane treatment. Once a person is found "guilty," their incarceration begins. Placing a human being in solitary confinement has been proven to be inhumane. This must stop. It is not the way people in a fair society should treat others - no matter what their crime. In fact, the best way to rehabilitate someone is to provide them with nourishment of the spirit. Body, soul, mind. Not only does it make sense for the prisoner, but it makes sense for our society. Once they have served their time, they are more apt to return to our community as a person who has begun to heal and deal with their underlying issues.
