Problem
The price of prescription drugs can be a major burden for low-income American citizens. According to a survey by the Commonwealth Fund done in 2014, 35 million people did not fill a prescription because they did not have the funds to pay for it. This ultimately results in continued pain, sickness, and even death.

Solution
The solution to the problem is not to impose price controls on pharmaceutical companies. Price caps will only serve to reduce research and development funding, limit market competition, and reduce access to medical innovations nationwide. A better solution is to encourage our legislators to get The Affordable and Safe Prescription Drug Importation Act passed. This law created in 2017 will implement the safe importation of affordable drugs from countries like Canada through certified sellers. The entire importation process will be monitored to minimize the threat of illegal activity and ensure the safety of the American people.
