I am writing on behalf of Amelia Lynn Isbell-Ortegón. Amelia was a victim of child abuse. Her little life was taken from her almost 2 years ago in Houston, Harris County, Texas. Yet, no one has been held responsible for her death. This deeply concerns me as a citizen. Children are innocent and are supposed to be protected by their parents. This little girl was in the home with 3 adults. She was too young to protect herself or fight back if needed. Amelia was rushed to the hospital non responsive on Feb 26,2012. She was removed from life support on Feb. 28, 2012.
According to the autopsy she was covered in bruises all over her body in various stages of healing. She had a broken leg, 2 contusions on the back of her head and 2 black eyes. According to the Harris County DA Office, it is believed that this precious child had been abused by all 3 adults in the home on a constant basis. A day care center saw these bruises on her body and did not report this suspicion as required by Texas Law. It seems acceptable because they had only seen her once and the next week she was dead. Therefore no charges were brought for their violation of our Laws.
I do not understand how this case has been swept under the rug for over a year and we are now being told that no one will be charged due to the fact that the Harris County DA Office believes they can’t get a conviction because the Medical Examiner cannot pinpoint the exact time the fatal injury happened. Even though they know there was ongoing abuse of this child saying there was no way that the adults in the house did not know of this ongoing abuse.
This is not acceptable and as a concerned citizen I am requesting a new investigation into the death of Amelia Lynn Isbell-Ortegón. Amelia did not get a second chance, why do these 3 people? There are so many unanswered questions for us as citizens and for her family. Please help find justice for Amelia. This little girl deserves that. Ask more questions! Investigate further and find the truth! Think about poor little Amelia, not even 2 years old yet, crying while someone took her precious life away from her.
Amelia cannot speak for herself in this case, that is why it is important for us to be her voice now. As Albert Einstein said; “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who stand by and do nothing about it.” You have the power to do something in this case! Please do not let this case slip through the cracks. It is in your hands now to do the right thing and make sure the person or persons responsible for taking Amelia from this world & the family who loved her pay for what they have done.
