The crisis in Calais is no longer a question of politics but one of humanitarian aid and the UK is ignoring its responsibility.
Just a stone’s throw from our doorstep 4000 people are struggling to survive in a barren wasteland of tarpaulin shacks and crumpled tents.
The stories I heard as myself and team of volunteers distributed food where different in context all followed a similar narrative: fleeing war-torn countries these refugees longed for education and stability. They had trekked thousands of miles, often through treacherous conditions just for a glimpse of the border that gives them hope.
With Germany expecting 800,000 Migrants in 2015 alone and other countries taking hight amounts, as a developed country the UK needs to up their game.
Its time we abandon our political and racial prejudices and pledge to do OUR FAIR SHARE in taking in and offering aid to these Refugees and migrants.
