our bodies don't define us!
our bodies don't define us!
Why this petition matters
Why are you distracted? Our stomachs out make it hard for you to focus. Our shoulders, our thighs, our collar bones. The body that provided a home for each human being. The body that is so unfamiliar to you as if it didn't create you, so you feel need to undress us with your eyes. The body you tell us to hide because it makes you "uncomfortable", it "offends", it is "too disruptive." We are told this from a young age. But why? Why are you distracted? As adults that went through "training" to work with MINORS why do you tell us to hide the bodies we were given from your staff?? If a girls stomach makes it hard for you to do your job why are you working at a high school?! Its been shown that the BOYS, the TEENAGE boys are more mature than our staff. They aren't the problem, they are not distracted. What happened to school being a learning environment? Port Saint Lucie High has a rating of 2.1 out of 5. Its not because of the girls belly buttons. It is because of the psychological effect this school has on its student body. Depression and anxiety runs amongst all 4 grades. People who have graduated will tell you how draining the school is and INAPPROPRIATE the staff is. Yet the school thinks collar bones and girls midriff is the problem. We NEED everyone to start looking at the bigger problems the school has instead of keeping GIRLS from their EDUCATION because an inch of their skin is exposed. We are all for limitations on dress code because of it being a learning facility but the discrimination, sexism, and sexualizing is UNACCEPTABLE. Please sign this petition if you agree girls bodies are not the problem and that there are bigger things this school should be focusing on.
