Equal religious rights
It's time to climb out of the shell and fight for what's right. A muslim girl being denied the right to wear a hijab with her school uniform is a common issue in the country, yet very unfair. However, it is very uncommon in our southern district, which makes it even harder to understand why a simple request would cause so much "disruption"
The solution is simple. Muslim girls just want the choice to wear the long pants (already designed by the school) and a small hijab (known as a head scarf) with the uniform. This would simply replace the school skirt required to wear in the summer, and all that would look different is the small headscarf, that is black and matches the school uniform, and does not even take up that much space of your uniform. It does not attract any attention, and I personally believe that it would not really disrupt the process of education
I started this petition because…
I don't understand why I can't wear the one thing that is a big representation of who I am as a person, at a place that is supposed to shape me into becoming a better person, or the fact that there is a rule that benefits one minority religion in the code of conduct (11.7.4), but when the point of the hijab is brought up, suddenly the system turns their heads. I speak a lot about how I'm always embracing who I am as a muslim, and it's about time that I fully embrace it, and not accept rules that violate that for 6 hours of the day. I'm not only doing this for me - infact, I finish school in a few months. I'm doing this for my muslim sisters, who won't have to feel 'different' whenever they slip on their hijab, but feel like the same confident woman that wakes up every morning. This is also to let the public know that we now live in a time where equality is essential, and that saying isn't enough, implementing needs to take place too.
This petition also serves as a form of inspiration to the public, to those who sit in the same position and wonder whether they should fight for their right
If you agree with this too, and also firmly believe that it wouldn't cause any disruptions, please sign this petition and share it. Be part of a change.
