OUR Cheniere Lake Needs YOUR Help!!!

I am starting this petition against the Ouachita Parish Police Jury (O.P.P.J.) as well as the Cheniere Lake Advisory Committee in an attempt to put a stop to the destruction of Cheniere Lake and I am asking for your help in this matter, along with your signature on said petition. I am sure by now that the majority of those who live in this area are aware of what the O.P.P.J. and the Cheniere Lake Citizen’s Advisory Committee are preparing to do to our lake and the Bald Cypress trees that stand so majestically in the water and along the banks of Cheniere Lake. However, for those of you who are unaware of the plans of these two groups then let me advise you of their agenda:
On the advise of the Cheniere Lake Advisory Committee, it is the intention of the Ouachita Parish Police Jury to harvest the timber (Bald Cypress and the Gum trees) out of the lake. According to their own reports, "The logging operation should begin as soon as possible, while the six-foot draw down of the lake is underway to clear space for repairs to Hwy 3033."
The Bald Cypress trees, which we are so lucky to have growing in and around our parish, as well as in our lake, are kin to the mighty Sequoia and the California Red Wood trees (just a little tidbit of information for your reading enjoyment). Our Bald Cypress not only provides the beauty to the lake, but also provides sanctuary to many different species of birds and other wildlife, as well as serves as a natural water filtration system, which in the end helps us too.
As of right now, we the citizens of Ouachita Parish, still have time to let our voices be heard and send a message to these elected officials that we do not want to lose our lake. It is time to stand together to protect and save the beauty that we have shared together known as “Cheniere Lake.
PLEASE HELP SAVE OUR LAKE!!!
