A student at OHS has been unfairly punished by the staff. This student wrote “I’m going to kill you (name)” on a paper with his friend’s name. The paper was relating to a horror game and even has a horror character drawn on it. This was found at school. The friend didn’t take offense and neither did the friend’s parents, but the staff still punished him for a long time. The handbook says punishment should be up to the victim and their parents, though there is an elastic clause this should apply to this situation. The victim and their parents want him absolved of punishment. Many people agree what he did was stupid but everyone agrees the punishment should have been 1-2 days of suspension, not for this long. His record is forever damaged by a small mistake that harmed no one in the school. Some could argue the most mental harm that has come from this is the overreaction from the staff.
