Save the radio on your smartphone - India
This petition had 37 supporters
Today's smartphones have FM Radio chips built-in. But most of them remain deactivated by the mobile manufacturers - smartphone OEM's. This built-in FM radio feature becomes a vital and essential way to communicate at times of emergencies for e.g., the Chennai Floods 2015. The radio becomes a critical resource in densely populated countries like India especially when there is no Internet or cellular connection during emergency situations, natural disasters such as tropical flooding, cyclone/hurricanes, earthquakes etc. Besides when the power grid is shut down or when there is a cellular network congestion, the FM radio on your smartphone can become a life saver. Not only does the FM radio consume very less battery life compared with data, as a smartphone user you've already paid for the FM radio every time you purchase it. So what are you waiting for - please sign this petition to save and activate the FM radio chip on your smartphones in India.
